Fostering Inclusion and Belonging in the Humber Region

Feb 26, 2024 - Insights

Tronox is proud to announce that our Stallingborough, UK site has recently become a member of the CATCH EDIB Network, a group of local companies in the Humber region.

By signing the CATCH Equity, Diversity, Inclusivity and Belonging Charter, we have reinforced our commitment to establish an inclusive industry culture that fosters a sense of belonging for
everyone.

Sarah Dent, Tronox’s HR Business Partner, represents the site in the team, and explained, “Tronox already
has a well-established and highly successful Diversity and Inclusion Network (TDIN), and the EDIB Network is a great opportunity to build on it by collaborating with other companies in the region. The group has already come together to share best practices, welcome guest speakers, and understand how we can collectively cultivate a culture of inclusion and belonging within our businesses. We all have a role to play in developing a culture that enables people to be their true selves and achieve their full potential.”

Steve Gabbitas, Tronox’s Learning & Development Lead, shared his thoughts, “Internally, we have already seen the value of creating and developing our approach with EDIB at the forefront of our minds.

Last year, we exceeded all our expectations in our apprenticeship recruitment process, and we now have our most diverse group of talented apprentices to date, who joined us in September 2023. I strongly believe that the awareness we raised, our approach, and our ethos have enabled these individuals to join us in STEM areas, benefiting the local industry now and in the future. This is just one example of how, working together, we can achieve great things as a business and, importantly, as a wider group in the region.
