News Release
Oklahoma City, June 3, 2008 – Tronox Incorporated (NYSE: TRX, TRX.B), on behalf of its subsidiary companies, today announced that prices for all TRONOX® titanium dioxide (TiO2) grades sold worldwide will increase by up to 8 percent by July 1. These price increases will be in addition to previously announced increases, which the company is actively working to implement. Further announcements will be made regarding specific increases within each region.
“We have and will continue to focus on increasing the efficiency and productivity of our facilities, but those efforts in isolation cannot be expected to offset the significant increases in freight, energy and other input costs that the TiO2 industry has absorbed over the last two years,” said Tom Adams, Tronox chairman and chief executive officer. “TiO2 is a critical raw material for our customers, and this increase in addition to the increases that were announced in October of 2007 and January of 2008 are required to ensure our industry can profitably reinvest in the business to meet our customers’ needs in the future.”
Headquartered in Oklahoma City, Tronox is the world’s third-largest producer and marketer of titanium dioxide pigment, with an annual production capacity of 642,000 tonnes. Titanium dioxide pigment is an inorganic white pigment used in paint, coatings, plastics, paper and many other everyday products. The company’s five pigment plants, which are located in the United States, Australia, Germany and the Netherlands, supply high-performance products to approximately 1,100 customers in 100 countries.
