Facts and Figures
Tronox is the world's fourth-largest producer and marketer of titanium dioxide (TiO2) pigment.
- We produce titanium dioxide pigment grades for a wide variety of applications. TiO2 is a quality of life product used in paint and coatings, plastics, paper and hundreds of everyday consumer products.

- Our worldwide annual pigment production capacity is 425,000 tonnes.
- Our primary chemical product, TiO2, represented approximately 93% of the company's net sales in 2006.
- We use two processes to produce TiO2 pigment for a variety of applications:
-
- Chloride: Our proprietary chloride process accounts for about 83% of our pigment production gross capacity. We are one of only five major producers of TiO2 with this proprietary technology. The chloride process produces pigment grades with a brighter appearance that is often preferred for paint, coatings and plastics. The paint, coatings and plastics industries account for about 80% of world pigment consumption.
- Sulfate: We utilize the sulfate process for pigment grades preferred in some geographic regions as well as for use in paper, ink, rubber and other specialty applications.
